Teaching the Elements and Principles of Design
Project Description:
For this project, I created a PowerPoint that includes multiple photos to represent the different elements and principles of design. Each slide shows a visual example of a specific element or principle, like line, color, balance, or contrast, along with a simple definition to help students understand what each one means. The goal is to help students visually recognize these design components in everyday images and artwork. I really wanted this to be a fun and clear way to introduce these concepts, especially for students who learn better with visuals.
Extension Activity:
As an extension activity, I’d have students go on a mini "design scavenger hunt" around the school or even at home. They would take their own photos that represent at least three elements and three principles of design. After that, they would upload their photos into a simple slideshow or poster and label each one with the correct term and a short explanation of why it fits. This helps them apply what they’ve learned in a hands-on way and connect the design concepts to the real world.
